Jogging for Memory and why it works

Hello Viewers of my page, welcome again and thank you for reading my post, feel free to leave me a message or comment, today, we shall be looking at the benefits of jogging as it applies to memory capabilities.

Two studies have examined the relationship between exercise and brain function.

·        Rhythmic exercise allows the mind to enter a tranquil state of clarity.

·        It also allows the mind to wander and fantasize.

·        Best of all, uncluttered thinking.

In the first study adults in their 40s were part of a walking/jogging program for 10 weeks and a similar group remain sedentary.

Scientists measure how well we recall things by our reaction time, guess what, the exercisers beat the sedentary group hands down in their response time to a series of numbers both groups were asked to recall.

The elderly often complain of memory lapses, so a second study was conducted, the researchers, put older, out of shaped people on a four month brisk-walking and compared them with a similar group who remained sedentary , as you would likely imagine, the exercisers improved in six out of eight mental-ability tests, including reaction time and short term memory. The sedentary people of course showed no improvement.

To conclude our reasoning, if these beneficial effects are due to increased oxygen levels in the brain is not well known, but psychologist-neurologist Ronald Lawrence M.D., Ph.D., believes that these improvements in mental sharpness are at least partially the result of the meditative trance that many regular exercisers, particularly runners are lulled into.
